I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, clinical supervisor, and trainer at Wildflower Center for Emotional Health. I work with individuals and couples who are looking to make meaningful change in their lives. I have clinical experience in working with anxiety, depression, struggles surrounding prenatal and postpartum mental health, grief and loss, complex trauma, sexuality and relationship issues. As a psychotherapist, I consider the therapeutic space to be one of both vulnerability and courage. Taking the first step to reach out for support necessitates bravery: a willingness to go within to explore one’s values as well as one’s struggles. In therapy, I aim to cultivate a safe space where clients feel empowered and motivated to explore what meaningful change can look like for them. My therapeutic approach is predicated on thoughtfulness and entails intentional collaboration in each session as I believe a strong partnership between client and clinician is key to success and overall positive change. In viewing clients holistically I incorporate appropriate evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness and other skills to guide the client as they work towards their treatment goals. As a clinical supervisor at Wildflower, I feel grounded in knowing I am facilitating the growth and development of up and coming clinicians. We are all new to the field at one time and deserve space to find our unique strengths and identities as clinicians. In the role of supervisor I consider myself a teacher, consultant, mentor, evaluator, and provide support and encouragement along the way. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa and received my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology with a Counseling specialization. My area of concentration in graduate school was Trauma and Recovery which greatly aided my work with clients in various outpatient settings. As my clinical work has evolved, I continue to grow by regularly attending trainings related to perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, mindfulness-based practice, anti-racism, and ethics. I’m a certified perinatal mental health clinician (PMH-C). I also train other professionals and have co-facilitated training sessions for therapists in the Chicagoland area on the following topics. These included “On Grief and Grieving: Addressing Perinatal Loss in Psychotherapy” and “Sexuality During Pregnancy and Postpartum: What Psychotherapists Should Know.” I look forward to connecting with you to see if we are a good fit!
