Micah Fisher

MSW, LSW

(they/them)

My therapy practice is rooted in collaboration and creating a strong sense of safety. Together I hope we can construct a space where we can be critical, investigative, and compassionate. I believe that self-understanding is one of the many paths toward collective liberation.

My approach is grounded in queer theory and anti-oppressive practice. I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities to create a collaborative and individualized experience, helping clients deepen their emotional awareness and meet their feelings with self-compassion rather than shame. My areas of specialty include working with LGBTQ+ populations, neurodiverse individuals, people living with bipolar disorder, and those navigating complex trauma. I especially enjoy working with clients who wish to understand their experiences through both structural and personal lens.

I work with individuals and families. In family therapy, I aim to help all members understand themselves and one another more holistically—including families who are working to support or better understand a child’s gender transition. My clinical interests also include perinatal health, sex therapy, depression, and anxiety. Across all areas, I integrate evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs.

In therapy, you’ll find me to be nonjudgmental and compassionate. I believe shame is an unhelpful motivator; instead, I strive to meet clients with curiosity, care, and authenticity. I’m committed to maintaining a kink-friendly, sex-positive, and affirming space. As a white transmasculine nonbinary therapist, I am open about my identities and welcome dialogue about how they may inform our work together.

I was inspired to become a therapist through my early work as an LGBTQ+ advocate during college. Since then, I’ve supported LGBTQ+ communities and families in NYC as an advocate, case manager, and clinician. These experiences have shaped my deep commitment to client respect, autonomy, and self-determination.
