Katherine Lucchesi

MSW

(she/her)

As a therapist, I believe in your right to self-determination and autonomy in the therapeutic process. I feel that my clients are experts on their own experiences and I feel privileged to be trusted with their stories and histories. I approach therapy from a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental perspective to create a space of collaboration and growth.

My clinical areas of specialty include family trauma, anxiety, depression, suicidality, and supporting LGBTQIA2S+ identifying families. Perinatal mental health is one of my core areas of clinical interest and I am committed to ongoing training in this specialty, specifically for postpartum parents. I also have a strong interest in working with adolescents, young adults, and couples who have experienced complex trauma within their family. I draw from frameworks of radical feminism and liberation psychology in my practice to acknowledge and explore systems of oppression.

I am extensively trained in and draw upon a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic Therapy. Additionally, I incorporate elements of expressive arts, narrative therapy, breath work, and somatic grounding in conjunction with traditional therapeutic approaches to promote healthy coping.

I obtained my bachelor’s degree in human development and family science from Syracuse University and my master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California. Before joining Wildflower, I was a therapist at an outpatient community mental agency in Los Angeles supporting children, adolescents, and adults struggling with trauma, suicidality, homelessness, mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders. I have also had the opportunity to work directly with LGBTQIA2S+ parents and families (who resemble my own) in a non-profit setting as well as supporting individuals through abortion in a healthcare setting. As your therapist, I hope to offer you a safe space for authenticity, acceptance, exploration and healing.
